  • It rarely starts immediately after the stroke
  • Treatment can improve symptoms but the pain rarely settles completely

    • Ask the patient about pain after stroke
    • Use appropriate assessment tools
    • Consider the impact of pain on all aspects of the patient’s life
    • Know the options available for treating CPSP
