Keep to safe alcohol limits

Hyperlipidaemia – aim for cholesterol below 4mmol/l, LDL under 2, triglycerides under 1.7

Regular checks of blood glucose – aim for no higher than 4mmol/l before a meal, 10mmol/l after a meal

Don’t smoke

Maintain a healthy weight – BMI between 20-25 and healthy waist circumference

Eat a healthy diet, reducing fat and salt intake and increasing fruit and vegetable intake

Blood pressure – aim for 130/80

Increase physical activity
