Introduction

This activity explores the knowledge and skills required by health and social care staff to understand the effect that a stroke may have on a person’s ability to carry out activities of daily living.

NB: This module has undergone a full content review and update October 2020.

Learning Points:

  • Describe how the effects of stroke may impact on an individual’s ability to perform daily living activities
  • Explain how to identify which activities an individual requires assistance with following stroke
  • Explain the balance between ensuring an individual’s safety and promoting independence/autonomy following stroke
