Michał’s follow up

Michał: This operation has meant I have considered my heart health and been able to discuss lots of different things I can do to keep healthy in the future. Now that I am feeling better, the doctor has said I can go home to spend time in Poland for a month before I return to work.

Poland: Michał returns home to Poland once safe to fly. This is generally specific to the patient and type of cardiac surgery that has taken place. The patient should always be advised to check with their surgeon or GP. Further information can be obtained from.

Work: On average it takes most people between 2-3 months to fully recover. This varies and patients should continue to discuss this with their CR Team and GP. In Michał’s case, he has a non manual job and may find he can return to this within this time.

Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR): People will be involved within CR as long as they wish, although are encouraged to attend for the programme. CR should be needs based and Michał’s goal is to return to the gym on completion of the CR programme.

Stress Management: is part of the integrated approach to CR programmes and will vary but generally contain the following as part of the whole education programme. When considering Michał’s recovery this aspect may be revisited on his return to Poland.

Medication: Michał requires his medication for life and this may be a difficult concept for him. This should be revisited so he can discuss any misconceptions regarding this.
