Unsteady on his feet when walking outdoors and anxious about falling – Practice outdoor walking on varying surfaces and inclines to make it harder as Jimmy progresses. Learn and practice safe techniques for getting off the floor.
Slow walking pace for crossing road safely – Work towards increasing Jimmy’s walking speed. In the interim it may be possible to negotiate adjusting the pedestrian crossing time.
Has difficulty managing house door lock, gym locker keys, and handling money due to hand in-coordination. – Jimmy will continue with his home exercise programme to improve his hand function. In the interim, if required he can be provided with an adapted key holder to ensure he can open and lock his house door. Jimmy should organise the correct money for the bus before the outing.
Poor balance for coping with a moving bus. – Jimmy will continue with his home exercise programme to improve his balance. He can practice travelling on the bus, initially with the therapist and then with his family. He could inform the bus driver of his poor balance.
