Skateboard

Not recommended for Flora.

Bus

Transport Scotland run a national concessionary travel scheme which provides free local bus travel and scheduled long distance coach services throughout Scotland to :

  • All scottish residents aged 60 or over
  • Scottish residents with a disability who are aged 5-59
Train

Assistance can be arranged, where available, by contacting relevant rail operators at least 24 hours in advance.

Taxi

Most councils have a Taxicard scheme which provides subsidised taxi travel for individuals with permanent and severe mobility difficulties.

Local options

Wheelchair and low-floor buses are available in some areas with additional features such as entry ramps, low step heights and additional handrails and lighting.

The ambulance service may be able to provide transport for hospital outpatient appointments.

Local bus, taxi and private hire operators are available in most areas.

Friends

Flora does not wish to rely on her friends.

Moped

Not recommended for Flora.

Mini Cooper

Flora has been advised by her GP that she should not drive for at least a year as per DVLA guidelines.

Voluntary services

Community sector transport schemes may provide services such as volunteer drivers and/or escorts.
