Stroke Training and Awareness Resources (STARs)

Ray

  • We first met Ray in the Thinking Processes and Behaviour Core competency module.
  • Ray has now been home for six months and is eight months post right frontal haemorrhage.
  • He is continuing to work with the Occupational Therapist and Neuropsychologist from the community neurorehabilitation team and has recently started a phased return to work.
  • When on the inpatient ward, Ray was able to demonstrate awareness of his difficulties, such as knowing he shouldn’t be attempting to walk without supervision and that he was getting muddled during cooking and kitchen assessments. However, as time has gone on, Ray has found it increasingly difficult to understand why he is finding returning to his life pre-stroke so hard.
  • Ray and his daughter have a meeting with a member of the community neurorehabilitation team to discuss how he is getting on and evaluate progress with his goals.
