Following the goal review Alice and the key worker continue to discuss the goals.
Scene 1
Key Worker: “That’s great you have achieved and even exceeded some of your goals. But the walking and the toileting still seem to be the most difficult ones don’t they?”
Alice: “Well I feel that I’m improving with them; I don’t need as much help in the toilet now.”
Scene 2
Key Worker: “How are you managing at the toilet and what would you say you still need help with?”
Alice: “I no longer require the turner and am able to step round to the toilet with one person which is so much better. I still find standing up from the toilet difficult and I need to hold onto a rail when standing so I don’t fall so I can’t let go to pull my up my pants and trousers.”
Scene 3
Key Worker: “That does sound like it has got better. Sitting to standing and keeping your balance still sound like they are tricky what do you feel about that?”
Alice: “Well yes I suppose so, but it will much easier when I am able to start walking to and from the toilet.”
Scene 4
Key Worker: “The walking goal that we have has been the same for the last 4 weeks and we are still struggling to achieve it why do you think that is?”
Alice: “(Angry) I know I’m not walking yet. Those therapists hold me back. They don’t let me walk by myself. If I had a frame or stick I’m sure I could do it. I will walk out of here I’m definitely not using a wheelchair I will show you…..”
