I would assist Jason to set goals to take his plans for change forward. – True – these might take the form of SMART goals (see topic loop behaviour change for further details). One might include avoiding his heavy drinking friend Jim for a few weeks!

I would encourage him to think of family members or friends who might help him. – True – if he has family or friends who have more sensible drinking habits they might help to motivate him through this period of change.

I would encourage Jason to set a start date for when he will begin to take action with his goals. – True – this will help to motivate him and give him a timescale to work towards.
