- TIME – allow plenty of time for conversations. Avoid interrupting or finishing Steven’s sentences.
- NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION – Steven communicates well through body language and facial expression. Look out for this.
- YES AND NO – Steven may be able to answer a short question which only requires a yes or no answer. It might help to narrow things down.
- VISUALS – use of photographs, pictures or other visuals can help to convey a lot of information and may help Steven to convey his choices.
- CONFIRM – check that you have understood Steven by recapping or asking Yes/No questions.
- ASK – everyone with Aphasia is different. Ask what helps.
