You want to support Mr McGuire in being able to return to his leisure interests of swimming, travel and gardening. He is keen to find out to if there is any support to help him do this.

Stroke clubs and voluntary groups

Stroke clubs and groups will be able to tell you about local leisure facilities and classes suitable for people who have had a stroke.

Local council

Your local council will provide details of day centres, clubs and interest groups in his area.

Police station

The police are unlikely to be able to provide this information.

Local newspapers

Local leisure facilities may be promoted in the classified section.

Local Library

Information can be found on notice boards in the library and by accessing library services on the internet.

Glossy magazines

Lovely to look at but unlikely to help!

Local leisure centre

Will be able to tell you about disabled facilities and support.

Internet

Many local leisure clubs and facilities advertise on the internet now.

Hospital/GP

Not necessarily, however they may be able to direct you to local healthy living initiatives.

Supermarket notice board

Possibly – but you are more likely to find second-hand goods for sale here!
