When Rosemary is ready to return to work

Slide 1

The community rehabilitation worker asks, ‘Rosemary, we have now been working together for a few weeks. At the beginning, we set some goals together. How do you think you are getting on with these?’

‘Well, my walking has improved and I can now walk around the house without my stick but I still need to use it outside. I can now hold my cutlery in my right hand but I still struggle to lift my arm up to do my hair. I still get quite tired as the day goes on. My speech is much better and I only have problems finding the right words when I am tired. It also takes me a bit longer to read things now than it used to,’ replies Rosemary.

Slide 2

‘That’s great, Rosemary! You’ve worked really hard to come this far. Are there any other goals you would like to work towards?’

Rosemary answers, ‘Actually, I would like to think about going back to work now, but I’m not sure because it might be too difficult and I’m a bit worried that I couldn’t do the job as well as I did before.’
