Dialogue between Margaret and the counsellor.
Scene 1
Margaret:What happens now?
Counsellor: Once the tests have been carried out, you will be asked along to a follow up appointment, so that we can chat about the results of your genetic testing.
Scene 2
Margaret: What happens if you find something wrong with my genes?
Counsellor: If a gene mutation is found to have caused you heart problems, we will recommend that your first degree relatives are offered a test to see if they are at risk of LQTS.
Scene 3
Margaret: If that happens, will you tell them or will I have to? I”m not sure that I would remember all the details.
Counsellor: Don”t worry. We will send you a letter telling them all about gene testing and screening, and you can give that to them. If they do have the same faulty gene, then we can refer them to the cardiologist.
Margaret: Thank you. You”ve put my mind at rest about a lot of things today.
