Bryan: “I have been to the chest pain clinic and am now feeling better, it wasn’t the news I was hoping for and I have been told I have angina.”

“At least I know what that is now and I am on treatment and know what to do if I get more pain”

“What I have been through has given me enough of a fright to make a few lifestyle changes.”

Shona: “It’s now become enjoyable having a healthy lunch and there is no need to add salt.”

Pulse point

Bryan was fully assessed at the RACPC and diagnosed with mild stable angina and commenced on medical therapy in keeping with national guidelines namely: Aspirin, GTN, Betablocker, Statin and ACE inhibiter. The GP will continue to monitor and up-titrate drug therapy as appropriate. He should also be given advice at the practice about his ongoing management including receiving appropriate immunisations and an annual review with the practice nurse. The advice he receives about his medications and what to do in the event of any further chest pain or breathlessness should also be made clear to him and his wife.
