Physical examination and further investigations

Patients with suspected angina should have a detailed initial clinical assessment which includes history, examination and assessment of blood pressure, haemoglobin, thyroid function, cholesterol and glucose levels.

  • Heart Rate: 70bpm
  • Blood Pressure: 148/94
  • Haemoglobin: 12.4 (normal range 12.2 -16.5)
  • Thyroid function test: T4 17.7 (normal range 9-24)
  • Thyroid stimulating hormone 2.3 (normal range 0.3-6)
  • Total cholesterol – 5.4
  • Blood glucose – 5.8 (range 3.9 – 7.8mmols)
