Activity options: with roll over explanation on each, picture of nurse, (middle) ,picture of appointment card, picture of telephone, picture of house, picture of Bill looking ok
- Image of Bill: Presume all is well as Bill didn’t attend. This is not ideal, it can be hard to know why patients do not attend clinic appointments but it is always important to make contact and explore the reasons behind this. The best option would be to make contact.

- Image of telephone: Telephone Bill, but be could be saying he is fine but struggling? Do you think this is the true picture?
- Image of Bill’s home: Arrange a home visit. This would be the best option as it would allow the nurse a clear view of how Bill is coping following his recent admission. The consultation would be in Bills own environment and he may be more relaxed and more likely to be honest about his thoughts and feelings.
Pulse point
Please think about this each time a patient fails to attend an appointment. Is this because they have forgotten or are they truly unable to attend?
